Agency Profile
General Information
- Agency Name:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Brazos Valley
- Description:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 6 through 18, in Bryan and College Station. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
There are two ways to volunteer as a Big Sister or Big Brother. In the community base program Big Sisters and Big Brothers are asked to take their Little Sisters and Brothers out 2-4 times a month to do activities they both enjoy - going to the park, playing sports, getting a bite to eat - simple activities that end up making a big difference. The commitment is for one year.
In our school base program Bigs visit with their Littles either on Tuesday or Wednesday for one hour between the hours of 3 - 5pm at an after school program in Bryan. Bigs help with homework, play sports, do crafts or just talk with their Little. This program follows the school year. New applications for the school base program are accepted in August - October.
