- Summary of Opportunity:
- United Way of the Brazos Valley is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from healthcare appointments. The program runs from 8 am- 5 pm Monday- Friday, volunteer work as needed in order to fulfill all of the ride requests that come in. The Ride2Health initiative is dedicated to providing safe transportation to the community. - The Ride2Health initiative is dedicated to providing safe transportation to the community. Pursuant to this goal, drivers must meet the following expectations:
• Drivers are expected to hold a valid driver's license.
• Drivers must have full coverage, including uninsured motorist coverage.
• Drivers must have an active insurance policy. Please consider, some providers will require drivers to add a rider to an existing policy to be eligible for coverage while volunteering for a rideshare program.
• Drivers must produce proof of coverage that meets Ride2Health's requirements. Proof may include policy declarations and a copy of an insurance card. Please allow a few days to process materials.
• Drivers are expected to complete an online driver safety course through The Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) and provide the certificate of completion. Information for the course can be found later in the handbook.
• Drivers are expected to attend an in person orientation and Navigating A Mental Health Crisis presentation offered by United Way.
• Drivers must report incidents that occur on their driving record even if the incidents occurred outside of volunteer hours.
• Drivers must have no more than two moving violations in the past three years (such as accidents or traffic light violations);
• Drivers must not have a single major moving violation in the past seven years (such as driving on a suspended license or reckless driving);
• Drivers must not have a DUI or other drug-related driving violation in the past seven years, or longer in some jurisdictions;
• Drivers must not have a serious driving-related conviction in the past twenty years (such as a hit-and-run or a felony involving a vehicle).
• Driver must call in and report any symptoms of COVID 19 to dispatch before their first scheduled ride on the day symptoms first appear. - Training/Orientation Provided:
